The Institute for Kinesiology Research of the Science and Research Center Koper (SRC Koper) successfully obtained the coordinatorship of the project ERASMUS+ Sport – Collaborative Partnership ‘EASY (Educational, Accessible, Simple, Youthful) approach to the acquisition of skiing skills in the learning process – SKI EASY’ and, in this context, decided to design the visual identity of the SKI EASY project.
The project consortium consists of nine partners; in addition to CRS Koper, it includes the IAESS (International Association of Education in Science and Snowsports), SITAS (Ski Instructors and Trainers Association of Slovenia operating within the Ski Association of Slovenia), CFVG (Collegio Regionale Maestri Sci FVG/Board of Ski Instructors Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy), UNISAL (University of Salzburg, Department of Sport and Exercise Science, Austria), UNIZG (University of Zagreb, Faculty of Kinesiology, Croatia), BSS (Bulgarian Ski School Association, Bulgaria), ATUS (Association of Trainers and Ski Instructors in Bosnia and Herzegovina) and UNINIS (University of Niš, Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, Serbia).
Due to dramatic changes in skiing technique and equipment, accompanied by decreased motor and functional abilities of skiers, it is essential to adapt and upgrade the procedures, tools and methods for teaching alpine skiing (also in the light of recent experience with the COVID-19 pandemic).
This is reflected in the main project objectives, which are hidden in the initials of the acronym EASY:
E (education): to promote education in and through sport with a special focus on ski instructor and learner skills and competence development; to enrich (self)employment possibilities for professional and dual career development; teaching module – SKI EASY certificate.
A (accessible): accessible learning and promoting participation in sport; Snowsports Days to reach the population of deprived children.
S (simple): simple communication – implementing an educational model of teaching skiing (ski alphabet, dictionaries and lively engagement) for ski beginners of all partners’ linguistic groups to simplify the ski teaching process.
Y (youthful): a youthful, state-of-the-art and IT-driven approach to teaching (interactive games, gadgets and ICT applications [animated films], mobile platforms and multimedia technologies for overcoming language and cultural barriers).
SKI EASY Unified teaching model (UTM) is a result of the Erasmus+ project “SKI EASY” and is presented in the first manual (pocket edition) that offers a unified approach to teaching skiing/Snowsports in eight different languages.
The project partners, in collaboration with the International Association for Education and Science in Snow Sports (IAESS), have developed educational materials to simplify the work of ski instructors worldwide, making the process of learning to ski more efficient and enjoyable. Utilizing the SKI EASY mobile application and several accompanying manuals with a Scientific References Database (SRDB), we directly apply this content into practice. Becoming a ski instructor using the SKI EASY method involves gaining more knowledge and taking a step toward excellence in the ski instructor profession.
